After a busy start to the season, the end of this month sees Barry Douglas make a well-anticipated recital tour of the UK with programmes of Schubert and Brahms, as well as returning to Ulster for the second instalment of his Tchaikovsky concerto series with the Ulster Orchestra.
Barry’s tour started on the 20th October as part of the Piano Masters Series at the Forum Theatre in Stoke-on-Trent, and continues to Canterbury Festival at the Shirley Hall in Kent tomorrow. He will also perform at Wexford Festival Opera, Ireland at the end of the month.
With Ulster Orchestra, Barry performs Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in a sold-out performance on the 28th October. Those without (and with!) tickets are very welcome to join Barry and Ulster Orchestra’s Richard Wigley prior to the concert in a free pre-concert talk at Ulster Hall.
Barry performs again with the Ulster Orchestra on 31st March 2017.
“Tchaikovsky’s Second Piano Concerto requires a pianist who can play with both unbridled virtuosity and intense poetry. Barry Douglas, one of the world’s great Tchaikovsky interpreters, is just the man for the job.” – Ulster Orchestra
